We skim the surface, our nacelles touching the crests of the acid seas. Beacons have become corroded and useless, although their antennae tentatively rotate and broadcast.

“Wasn’t that a voice? I’m sure I heard someone…damn it…too late to turn back to check. Let’s hope they surface again on another pass, at another vector.”

At this speed, time becomes a myth. Only local time inside this capsule guides us to any sort of normality. Outside, the environment is shot. No structures remain intact. All infra was dissolved long ago.

The promised land never materialised. It wasn’t supposed to be like this. How do we move forward now, knowing what we know?

Guidance is all out of control. Literally and figuratively. The command centre is clueless as to how we should proceed, so we have to make decisions based on our own findings. Instrumentation was not prepared for such wayward interference. Gravity stabilisation is off the scale and we’re effectively spinning out of control. The seas are covered in clouds and the mountains’ jagged peaks threaten to tear the ship asunder.
